Applying for a Summer Session
The Summer Sessions is a talent development network and the residencies are intended for early career artists, meaning the artist is under 35 years of age and/or graduated no more than 5 years before the time of applying.
The duration of a residency is roughly 8 weeks in the period between June 15th and September 30th.
As an artists you can apply by submitting a video, in which you briefly explain your project, the support you need and why you should be a part of the Summer Sessions. Only videos submitted before the deadline will be reviewed.
Please note that all the partners in the network review the submitted video's, so English is preferred (don't worry you won't be judged on grammar or pronunciation).
The idea behind this residency program is that local sponsors support young artists from their country to go abroad and develop a work at a host institute. Each Summer Sessions artist commits him/herself to the production of a presentable residency output. As an artists you can only apply if one of the partners in the talent development network is based in their country of residence.
Please follow the application steps:
- Create a 2 minute video explaining your project.
- Upload your video to a service like Youtube or Vimeo. Note that on Youtube you can make the video 'unlisted' so it can not be found without knowing the URL. On Vimeo you can set a password.
- Come back here and select your country of residence. You can only apply if you live in one of the countries in which a sponsor institute is located.
- Fill out the online application form to provide your personal details and the link to the online video proposal.
Deadline: 15 May 2015 application deadline.
Early June 2015: notification of acceptance.
The following partner institutes will sponsor and/or host the selected Summer Session projects.
You can only apply if you live in one of the countries in which a sponsor institute is located.
If your project is selected, the location where you will do your project will be discussed with you, your sponsor institute and the host institute best suited to support your project.
