Teatro di Sardegna started as a permanent theatre company in 1973. Since 2015, with the project “SardegnaTeatro”, Teatro di Sardegna is acknowledged by Italian Culture Ministry as a Theatre of Relevant Cultural Interest, among the 30 most important theatres in Italy, also supported by a special fund dedicated to Dance Festival. Teatro di Sardegna’s core business is focused on productions, nonetheless it supports artists' residencies, training and cultural activities, it pursues the aim of enriching and promoting Sardinian cultural environment by effective collaborations and co-productions with Italian and international partners, strengthening the net of relationships by tours and cooperative projects and developing “new audience”. Teatro di Sardegna takes into big account the political and social role embodied by performing arts: indeed, in 2017 UNHCR acknowledged the Teatro di Sardegna with the mention “Welcome – Working for Refugee Integration” – the only cultural organization, with Cirque du Soleil, among 50 enterprises. Being the unique “Theatre of Relevant Cultural Interest” of Sardinia is intertwined with a synergistic strategy that will engage even the most peripheral areas of the Island, with the aim of strengthening the agency of Teatro di Sardegna as a publisher of multidisciplinary contents. The recent global conditions, drove the reflection on sustainability and human relation with the planet to imagine a different positioning. Teatro di Sardegna is interested in productions in augmented reality that will also help to grow an environmental awareness. The organisation aims to contribute to building a sustainable, visionary and inclusive future for the communities in which operates. Teatro di Sardegna will support works resulting from the intersection of artistic and technological languages, that will give rise to original operations, to elicit an immaterial production of high quality and activate a concrete change in the cultural context of the Island, stimulating questions rather than providing easy answers, to arouse a critical sense and political standing and to create long-period cultural legacies
